    This research environment contributes knowledge on how to understand, measure and prevent sexual corruption. The research environment includes researchers from Uppsala, Örebro, Linköping and Gothenburg Universities, in collaboration with partners Transparency International and Quality of Government Institute (QoG).

    Sex instead of money: Conceptualizing sexual corruption

    This article presents our conceptual framework about sex as a currency in corrupt transactions. Our collaboration partners Transparency International and the UNCAC Coalition (Association for the Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption) use this framework. The article introduces a definition of sexual corruption, discusses how to understand this form of corruption, and presents a review of previous research.

    What is Sexual Corruption? The challenges of raising awareness and legislating in the absence of recognition

    This article discusses the risks of approaches that encourage victims of sexual corruption to report their experiences, in the absence of appropriate legislation to protect them. The article is published in a special issue of the UN publication Forum on Crime and Society.

    In this research project we explore the implications of sex as a currency in corrupt transactions, focusing on the education sector. We analyse the development and implementation of policies against sexual corruption.

    Sextortion: Corruption and Gender-Based Violence

    In this report for The Expert Group for Aid Studies (EBA) from 2020, together with Sofia Jonsson we reviewed the then limited research field on sexual corruption focusing on development aid, and did two case studies on sexual corruption in Tanzania and Colombia.

    Implementing Policy against Sextortion in Tanzania: A Follow-Up Study

    In this follow-up report for EBA from 2022, we analysed the conditions for implementing measures to prevent sexual corruption in education and development aid in Tanzania.
